We would like to take a moment to celebrate the tangible generosity you have demonstrated through your continued involvement with Rise Against Hunger over the past 9 years.
According to Rise Against Hunger's Dunwoody UMC Impact Report, our total collective number of meals provided is 2,402,118. Those meals have benefited 11 different countries over the last 9 years.
That's quite an impact! Thank you for going above and beyond over the years to work toward our goal of a world without hunger. We couldn't have done it without you. Let's keep running after our goal in 2019!
This fall, our friends at Rise Against Hunger presented Dunwoody UMC with the 100-Millionth Meal Award!
Dunwoody United Methodist Church, in partnership with Rise Against Hunger and Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, bring together 1,200 community volunteers to assemble 300,000+ dehydrated meals for children in need across the globe. This number will match or eclipse the largest effort of its kind in metro Atlanta for Rise Against Hunger. Over the past seven years, the church and community have packaged over 2,100,000 meals. With a successful Foodstock event this year, we will near the 2,500,000 meal mark in our history with Rise Against Hunger. Come be a part of this wonderful event and this historic mark. Volunteers form large assembly lines to bag the meals. The meals are made of rice, soybeans, vegetables and 21 essential vitamins. The result of this work fills an entire shipping container (20 tons of food) and it is shipped immediately to those in need. Rise Against Hunger primarily targets children through school lunch programs, but expands to the community it is serving based on need.
