A Deeper Shade of Blues

A Deeper Shade of Blues is a powerful one-man show written and performed by Joel P.E. King, blending storytelling, live music, spoken word, and movement. Through intimate vignettes, King explores memory, identity, fatherhood, mental health, and the complexities of Black masculinity, embodying multiple “shades” of blues along the way. Both deeply personal and universal, the work transforms pain into revelation and healing. Performance followed by a talk-back with the artist.
