Dunwoody UMC has a very active women’s ministry that spans all age groups and interests. Our groups welcome women who want to broaden their faith, make new friends, connect with like-minded women and participate in service projects. From small groups to banquets with guest speakers, there’s something for every woman at DUMC.

United Women in Faith

What Is United Women in Faith?

We are a supportive, inclusive Christian membership organization for women to grow spiritually and work to create a world in which all women, children and youth thrive.

What We Do

Our membership runs between 275-300 ladies who meet monthly September – May. We are organized into 8 different circles representing all age groups. Each group is known as a “Circle” and meets monthly to engage in fellowship, mission work, Bible study and fun. We invite speakers on various topics and work on service projects like feeding the homeless, donating time and materials to community charities, working on global mission projects, participating in Bible studies and providing support to members who are sick, grieving, having babies and much more.

UMW Missions

In 2020, Dunwoody UMW was recognized by the North GA Conference as a Goal of Excellence Unit and a Five Star Giving Unit. We also gave over $6000 in 2020 to national UMW Missions through our pledge drive. Because of our members’ generosity, we were able to donate the following in 2020: click here to view.

Working Women’s Network

This group for working and retired women focuses on fellowship and supporting one another as sisters in Christ. We participate in a variety of service projects and enjoy educational programs by outside speakers. We welcome and look forward to meeting visitors and new members.

New Horizons in Christ

This group is for women with adult children and aging parents. Monthly meetings are geared toward service projects to help families. Meetings are held on different days and nights depending on the service activity, but are generally in the morning. We also meet for a variety of social events throughout the year, and these typically occur in the evening. We have found that this flexible schedule helps our participation.

Heart & Home

Our members are moms of children in high school through young adulthood. We strive to build supportive friendships with one another and nurture faith and families. We come together for a mix of service projects, Bible studies, and social gatherings.

UMW Book Club

This group is open to all women interested in reading and discussing selections from the UMW Reading Program. This club brings together women from different Circles who have a mutual interest in book discussions.

This month's book: Rewired by Dr. Ajay K. Seth.

Following Melissa's hand amputation, divine intervention, combined with Melissa’s determination and Dr. Seth’s disciplined commitment and dedication to his patients, brings about the opportunity for a medical breakthrough.

Spiritual Growth

This group is comprised of working and retired women of various ages. Our programs include various speakers and programs of interest. They’re a caring group working to support the missions of the church, the community and each other. They enjoy a light supper at meetings.

Serving and Sharing

This group of women gather for fellowship, spiritual growth and group projects which support the missions of the church. They enjoy thought provoking programs designed to increase awareness of opportunities to enhance spiritual life.

Family Living & Giving

This Circle is for retirees enjoying grandchildren and caring for aging parents. We participate in many service projects in DUMC and the community. We have devotions, guest speakers and a brief business meeting each month. Join us for participation in meaningful fellowship.

UMW Bible Study

This group provides members a time to enrich their study of the Bible. Lessons presented by various leaders provide the closeness of fellowship and help them dedicate their services through UMW.

Gracetime

This group is for young women in their 20's and 30's. They gather for fellowship and to spotlight unique and creative ways to give back. Visit facebook.com/DUMCYA for upcoming meeting information.

Women of the Word Book Study

Join us on Wednesday nights for a discussion around Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Minds by Jen Wilkin We all know it’s important to study God’s word. But sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. What’s more, a lack of time, emotionally driven approaches, and past frustrations can erode our resolve to keep growing in our knowledge of Scripture. How can we, as Christian women, keep our focus and sustain our passion when reading the Bible? Women of the Word has helped countless women with a clear and concise plan they can use every time they open their Bible. This book will equip you to engage God’s word in a way that trains your mind and transforms your heart. This study will be in person only and will run 4 weeks! Schedule: Week 1 (April 27)- Chapters 1 and 2- Turning Things Around and The Case for Bible Literacy Week 2 (May 4)- Chapters 3 and 4- Study with Purpose and Study with Perspective Week 3 (May 11)- Chapters 5 and 6- Study with Patience and Study with Process Week 4- (May 18)- Chapters 7 and 8- Study with Prayer and Pulling It Together To purchase the book, click HERE Click HERE to RSVP!
