Men’s Ministry Speaker Chip Madren won his battle with stage 4 brain cancer as a teenager and now, as an adult, he channels his passion for the outdoors as a gun range safety officer for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Chip will be in the Fellowship Hall Tuesday, July 22nd from 7-8:30am to share his story and his joy for life, resilience, and love for the outdoors. Join us for Chip’s contagious encouragement and a full southern breakfast prepared by our very own Chef Zacka!

In August 2010, Chip was a 13-year-old 7th grader who loved baseball, hunting and fishing. After he was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer (anaplastic metastatic medulloblastoma), he went to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where he spent 180 days of the next year receiving radiation treatments, surgeries, chemotherapy, and countless other procedures. The treatment left him mute and unable to swallow for over 10 months. Chip embarked on a successful 4-year journey of PT/OT/ST sessions, swallow therapy, injections, MRIs and CT scans, and countless other treatments. He is now an active outdoors man and fund raiser for brain cancer research.

We met Chip at DUMC when he attended his nephew’s baptism and we want you to meet him, too! His attitude is amazing, inspiring, and contagious! You will be a better man after hearing his story!
