Simon Jones Ambassador Awards
The 2024 Simon Jones Goodwill Ambassador Awards are presented annually to two individuals - a laity member and a staff member - who exemplify the characteristics that made our longtime Director of Facilities an incredible gift to Dunwoody United Methodist Church. The two people selected will exemplify Simon Jones’ legacy with their welcoming and caring hearts, always having time to share their love of Jesus Christ with others. A selection committee will choose the recipients from the nominations received by May 20. An awards presentation will then be held at all three services on Sunday, June 9. Wednesday Night Supper
Join us as we wrap up the year! The last Wednesday night supper will be held on Wednesday, May 8. Dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 6:15 p.m. If you would like to register for WNS, please fill out the form below. You also have the option of emailing Debbie Collins or by calling at 770-394-0675, ext 111. Reservations are due by the end of day on Monday. Please do your best to adhere to this reservation deadline so there will be a meal prepared for you. The cost for Wednesday Night Supper is $10 for an adult meal, $5 for a child meal (3-11 years). Children under 3 years eat for free. Wesley Woods Mother's Day Offering
The Wesley Woods Mother’s Day offering provides critical funding for charitable financial assistance with housing and meals, pastoral care and wellness programming to older adults living in a Wesley Woods community. Please give generously online at wesleywoods.org/donate, or dunwoodyumc.org/give by designating "Wesley Woods Mothers Day Offering" in the Fund drop-down menu.

Common Ground Documentary 
The Environmental Stewardship Committee will be hosting a screening of the documentary, "Common Ground" on Monday, May 13 in the Asbury Room from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Common Ground is a new film about how regenerating the world’s soils has the potential to rapidly stabilize earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies.

Kick-Off to Summer Luncheon
Let’s kick-off the Summer with food and fellowship on Sunday, May 19, as we host a church-wide luncheon. Seatings will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Please register in advance to reserve your desired setting time. Serving with the DUMC Hospitality Trailer is a fun way to share the DUMC experience with our community! New Baby?

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House
Collecting pop tabs is a fun and easy way to support Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities. Across the Metro-Atlanta area, hundreds of individuals, schools and companies are working together to collect Pop Tabs to benefit our mission. Those Pop Tabs are recycled and we receive the market value of the recycled metal. We are collecting pop tabs at the reception desk, bring yours today! Nursing Nook
Did you know we now have a Nursing Nook in the Fellowship Hall? Mothers who are nursing or caring for infants are welcome to use the enclosed area of the Fellowship Hall to nurse and/or soothe infants while still hearing the service. You may have also noticed that you can now hear the service in the hallways and bathrooms of the 2nd floor Activities Building - we don't want you to miss the message when you need to step out. Please reserve the nursing nook for infants to ensure privacy for nursing mothers.

Golf Cart Ministry
Need a ride? We have a golf cart team that is happy to get you to and from the building on Sunday mornings. Look for the banners in the parking lot to see the path that the golf cart will drive. Just stand by your car and someone will be by to get you! Our golf cart is currently running three shifts: 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. | 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. | 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

DUMC Nametags
Anyone may place a name tag order HERE. All requested name tags may be picked up on the magnetic board behind the Parlor welcome desk. Feel free to leave your nametag on this board during the week for easy access on Sunday mornings. If you need a replacement nametag feel free to leave your current nametag at any of the welcome desks and we'll get it fixed!

Missions

Habitat for Humanity | April – June 2024
Each spring, Dunwoody UMC participates in building a Habitat for Humanity home. In 2024, we will build our 33rd Habitat House. We have an exciting build schedule for 2024 and need 25 volunteers per day for 8 build days (eight Saturdays). If you are interested in helping with the build, sign up HERE. The Spring 2024 is underway now and continues until Saturday, June 22. Contact Jack and Bette Whitley or Sean Penn for more information. Must be at least 16 years old to participate.

Community Assistance Center Donations 
The Community Assistance Center needs food donations to support their continuing efforts to provide food for those in need. Donations to the Mini-Market allow these families to have sufficient food options, in quantity and quality, for their tables. Donations can be dropped in the canvas bins at church or at the CAC offices on Roswell Road. The most needed food items include: Rice, Oatmeal, Soups, Canned meats (spam, tuna, chicken, etc.) Canned fruit, Dried beans, Lentils, Pasta (any kind), Pasta sauce, Diced tomatoes, Pasta entrees, Condiments, Canned corn, Peanut butter, Meat entrees, Ramen noodles.

Guatemala Mission Trip 2024 Info Meeting
Dunwoody UMC has another International Mission trip scheduled for 2024! This trip is an opportunity for groups and individuals to carry our mission work to the world. The trip will be to Guatemala to serve Project Salud y Paz, a nonprofit with three medical clinics and an early education center. The Susanna Wesley School provides education, nutrition, and medical care for more than 50 preschool through first grade children. Salud y Paz is a joint project of International Hands in Service (a U.S.-based 501c3 non-profit organization), the Iglesia Metodista Nacional Primitiva de Guatemala, and the United Methodist Church in the United States. Join us on Monday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Young Adult Suite to learn how to join this year's mission trip. For more information, contact trip leader Guy Griswold or Sean Penn. The 2024 Guatemala trip dates are Saturday, August 17 through Saturday, August 24.

Helping Hands Volunteers
Do you have occasional availability and a heart to serve Dunwoody UMC? We often have behind-the-scenes, but very necessary tasks that require light-duty volunteer assistance! Join DUMC's Helping Hands Volunteers group! You will be invited to assist with various projects such as assembling Christmas candles, preparing items for Vacation Bible School, packaging star words for Epiphany, and/or segmenting Sunday giveaway items. Individuals who opt into this Helping Hands Volunteers group will be notified when a general need arises, and invited to serve. Click HERE to opt into the group.

Camp High Five Volunteers
Camp High Five is an amazing experience for children affected by HIV/AIDS, and needs volunteers this summer. Someone who is at least 18 years old, patient, kind, responsible, works as part of a team, and loves to have fun with children is exactly who we're looking for (must be able to pass a background check)! Camp will be held from Sunday, June 16 (volunteers report to site on Saturday, June 15) through Friday, June 21 at Camp Twin Lakes' Will-A-Way site in Winder, Georgia (round-trip transportation will be provided). Sundays with Connected
Our Special Needs Ministry, Connected, is growing! Join us for a small group Sunday school class focusing on life lessons & spiritual growth. This group is designed for individuals with special needs ages 14 and up! For more information contact Nicholle Hansen or Jenny Rolfes.

Visitation Ministry
Dunwoody UMC has a congregation filled with unique individuals with fascinating backgrounds and accomplishments. If you have an hour or so to spare each month to meet some of our members who may not be able to get to church, you will bring joy and friendship to those you visit, and you will be blessed to meet them and to get to know them. Our Visitation Ministry is currently looking for friendly visitors who are willing to visit their assigned person(s) at least once per month and to stay in touch with them by phone call or cards. We will provide all the training you need. If you are interested or have any questions, please reach out to Rev. Kathy Brockman at 770-542-1677.

Grief Support Group
If you are grieving the death of a loved one - no matter when that death might have occurred - there is a support group just for you. Stephen Ministry
When do I need a Stephen Minister? Are you going through a difficult time—emotionally, spiritually, or relationally? A Stephen Minister is someone to listen when we don’t want to burden our friends and family. Our Stephen Ministers are trained caregivers, ready to listen, care for and encourage you, pray with and for you, and provide confidential one-on-one Christian care to help you through whatever it is that you are facing. Alzheimer's/Dementia Support Group for Caregivers
If you are trying to cope with caring for a loved one with a form of dementia, even if long distance, there is a monthly support group to help you! Come and join others who are on this same journey. How United Methodists Study Scripture
This June, learn How United Methodists Study Scripture, as your Clergy staff teaches from the book of the same name. This four-week Sunday School series is open to all adults, and an option for those whose regular Sunday School classes break for summer. Come for all four sessions, or drop in as you can! Western North Carolina Trip
Join DUMC this September 16-19 as we travel to Lake Junaluska Conference Center in the beautiful western North Carolina mountains, along with other noteworthy and fun sites within the surrounding area! We'll enjoy day trips to the Great Smoky Mountain Train ride, departing from Bryson City, NC; The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, including the current Dale Chihuly Art Exhibition; and a shopping visit in Waynesville, NC. Children's Choir Musical: What's Up Zak?
Join the Children's Choirs on Wednesday, May 8, 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary as they warm your hearts with "What's Up, Zak?" Funny, lively songs introduce a town bustling to prepare for a visit from Jesus. But the people who need love the most, the lowly beggars and the tax collectors, are not invited to the party. The stories of Zacchaeus and Bartimaeus teach us about a Savior who knows us by name, and loves us, just the way we are! A wonderful story for believers of all ages.

UWF Book Club
Are you a reader? We'd love to have you join us, the United Women in Faith, for our May book discussion. Mark your calendar for Monday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor. The Hall of Famers are a group of senior men that gather on the second Friday of each month at DUMC for a full breakfast, fellowship, conversation and the occasional speaker. 18 Steps to Spiritual wHoleness
The 18 Steps to Spiritual wHoleness group meets on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 a.m. for a full breakfast and study in the Epworth Room. Topic: Psalm 23. Kid's Ministry Support Coordinator
Join the Kid's Ministry team as the Lower Grades Support Coordinator! Help shape the spiritual journey of children, ages 2-2nd grade! VBS and VBX registration is open, and we’re excited to have almost 300 kids registered to join us this year! It takes over 200 adult volunteers to make this week happen. The form is open for volunteers now! This week is an extra special time to watch the adults of DUMC open our doors and make connections with kids who are learning the love of Jesus.
