Small Groups and Studies

Disciple 1 Fast Track

Disciple Fast Track, is an adaptation of the original, Disciple Bible Study. This study, led by Scott and Cheryl Dunbar, provides a viable option for busy people seeking comprehensive engagement over time with the entire biblical text. Fast Track is a 24-week study with 12 weeks each in the Old Testament and New Testaments. Participants read a manageable 3-5 chapters of the Bible daily in preparation for the weekly meetings, which last approximately 75 minutes. Each week there is a short video clip, opportunity for discussion, and growing in community with other participants. The Small Group will begin on Sunday evening, October 3rd, at 5 p.m. Cost is $32.00 per person.

The Problem of Pain

Have you ever thought something like, "If God were good, He would make His creatures perfectly happy, and if He were almighty He would be able to do what he wished, But the creatures are not happy. Therefore, God lacks either goodness or power or both?" Also, how could a benevolent and loving God allow the suffering we see all around us everyday? For help answering these questions, join us for a 6 week study of C.S. Lewis' "The Problem of Pain" starting Tuesday, October 5th at 7 p.m. in the Young Adult Suite.

Words of Life – The Ten Commandments

Nearly everyone has heard of the Ten Commandments. Jesus saw these commandments not as a burden, but a guidepost to help make life beautiful. Join Rev. Kathy Brockman (at 4:30 p.m.) or David and Joy Melton (at 7:00 p.m.) in a ten week Wednesday night study as we explore a modern look at the Ten Commandments in light of a historical context and understanding them as Jesus interpreted them.

DUMC Outdoor Ministry

The Outdoor Ministry of DUMC is for those who:

  • -Wish to enhance their spiritual life
  • -Have the desire to get outside and experience nature (no experience necessary!)
  • -Seek a closer relationship to the community of faith
  • -Try new things, learn new skills, and experience new places
The Outdoor Ministry of DUMC is designed to bring together active adults who are seeking God in Christian fellowship together with those with similar interests. Some of us find the “barrier” between God and ourselves is thinner when in nature.

You may have experience, have participated in outdoor activities earlier in life, or have no experience whatsoever. All that is required is desire.
