As we seek to move outside the walls of Dunwoody UMC in service to others and welcoming them into our faith community, we know that we will find people who don’t look or talk like we do. In order to be prepared for the future, we will take a look at what is termed implicit bias. Implicit bias is described as having attitudes towards people or associating stereotypes with them without our conscious knowledge. There are many examples of this in our daily world and we do it without even thinking about it, therefore the term “implicit.” Join us for a four week study on what implicit bias is, how we recognize it in ourselves, and what we can do to transform it.
