Older Youth Confirmation Experience 2011

Confirmation for 7-12 graders will be offered through the youth ministries department at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. We will be beginning an Older Youth Confirmation Experience in January. This class is being held for those who wish to join the church but have not yet participated in Confirmation.

 

There will be eight sessions and a retreat February 25-27, 2011 at Lake Junaluska, NC. Each session will last for 45 minutes. The sessions will take place in the Youth Area on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-5:45.  The first session will be Wednesday, January 5th for youth and their parents 5:00-5:45! The remaining sessions for youth are as follows:

 

  • Jan. 12 5:00-5:45 DUMC Tour
  • Jan 19 5:00-5:45 All About DUMC
  • Jan. 26th 5:00-5:45 Grace and the Means of Grace
  • Feb. 2nd 5:00-5:45 What do I believe? History & Doctrine
  • Feb. 9th The Trinity and the Sacraments
  • February 16th The United Methodist Church and Me
  • February 25-27 retreat at Lake Junaluska
  • March 9th attend the Ash Wednesday service

 

We highly recommend the retreat; however, if you cannot attend the retreat we will offer a 3-hour make up session TBA. Upon completion of the confirmation sessions and the retreat, youth will be confirmed during worship on Sunday, May 1st. Youth will be required to attend a confirmation banquet and rehearsal Saturday, April 30th at 6:30pm.

 

Confirmation is a valuable experience leading up to acceptance of personal faith development and church membership for youth. This class will be an enlightening and educational time for exploring faith, Christianity and the United Methodist Church.
