Women of the Word

Aim for 2012:

To experience spiritual renewal as Biblical women, while enjoying the Living Water of Jesus Christ.

Scripture:

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR DUMC WOMEN!

Are you resolving to spend more time in God's Word in 2012?

Kick off the new year on the right foot with our Women of the Word (W.O.W.) studies!

For our working women and or moms out there (of all ages!), we are offering a nighttime course on Beth Moore's "Proverbs". This series is perfect for the busy, on-the-go woman, with no homework! (And, each week's topic is stand-alone.). This study covers topics on marriage, parenting, taming the tongue, dealing with difficult people, and having basic WISDOM to handle everything that comes our way in life! "Proverbs" will be on Tuesday nights, from 7-9pm, for 12 weeks, starting Tuesday, January 24th. Please contact Laura MacElroy for registration or childcare reservations at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Starting on Wednesday, January 25, from 9:30-11:30am, for 11 weeks, we will be featuring Beth Moore's "A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place". In this study, you will "explore the fascinating account of the building of the Old Testament tabernacle" and its meaning with our walk with God today. You will be challenged to prepare your heart to become a home for His love---a dwelling place for the Most High. Please contact Marty Chambless for registration or childcare reservations at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

For our married, or soon-to-be married couples, we invite you to attend Andy Stanley's iMarriage. For 6 weeks, we will study key teachings that will help you transform your expectations, and examine the nasty "I's" of marriage---"this is one lesson your marriage won't survive without". Join Sharon and Ricky Nuckols, on Sunday nights, starting February 12th, from 5-7pm, to begin this new, healthy look at your marriage. ? Please contact Sharon Nuckols for registration or childcare reservations at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We also invite you to Jennifer Rothschild's "Me, Myself, and Lies: A Thought Closet Makeover". Beginning February 16th, on Thursdays, from 9:30-11:30am, for 7 weeks, Jennifer will share practical, scriptural ways that women can turn their own words to themselves, and the words of others, into good. She shows how we can clean out our negative thoughts (in our "thought closet") and replace them with Truth from God's Word. Please contact Becky Wright for registration or childcare reservations, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We pray that you will join us, as we all come together to dig deeper in God's Word and transform into distinct women of Christ!

WE HAVE A RICH HISTORY AT DUNWOODY UMC……

In 1991, Dunwoody United Methodist Sr. Pastor, Wiley Stephens, approached long time members, Becky Wright and Nancy Meeker with a request that they begin a prayer ministry within the church. Becky and Nancy agreed and realized there was need for such a class in which to (teach women how to pray.) Nancy wrote a study on prayer and taught this for several years.

The ladies saw that there was a great hunger among the women of Dunwoody UMC for focused Bible Studies. A task force comprised of fifteen ladies formed to evaluate the needs followed and Women of the Word, was born. As Women of the Word, we are committed to teaching the Word of God to the ladies of Dunwoody United Methodist Church.

Since the conception of WOW ten years ago, God has richly blessed the women of Dunwoody UMC and our community at large with growth not only in Bible Studies but also through special events and fellowship.

The Women of the Word are a community of women who desire to learn how to apply the Bible with relevancy in today’s world and to mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will continue to grow this ministry and bless those who come to be a part of it.
