Club 45

Missions are a huge part of Club 45 (the preteen ministry here at DUMC). Club 45ers have collected food to donate to a food pantry, spent a muddy Saturday working at the community garden at Morgan Falls, put together amazing Christmas stockings for the kids in a homeless shelter, and packed meals with Stop Hunger Now.

Community Action Center

Our church supports this agency that assists residents of six zip codes in our area in multiple ways. Food drives and school supply drives are held, and individuals may also adopt a family through our Angel Tree at Christmas. Volunteers from our church work in the CAC office and also help in the food pantry and thrift shop.

God Squad

For rising 4th, 5th, and 6th Graders, this week of mission activities gives preteens a chance to be the hands and feet of God in their community. Doing both onsite mission projects and going on offsite day trips, God Squadders have served in lots of different ways: by cooking and serving meals to people who are homeless at St. John the Wonderworker, getting their hands dirty in community gardens, working with the children at the Atlanta Day shelter, and packing lots and lots of rice and beans for the food bank at St. Patrick’s Episcopal church.

Prison Ministry

We seek to extend the Christian community to the incarcerated, so that their separation from society will not result in a separation form God. A strengthened relationship with God prepares inmates to walk a better path upon release from prison. Whether your mission is to serve inside prison walls, by serving on a retreat team, or serving outside through prayer support, cookie baking, or clothing or monetary donations, all can live out Christ’s call in Matthew 25:36, “I was in prison and you came to see me.”
