Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry of Dunwoody United Methodist Church supports all of our nurturing and outreach ministries.

If you desire intercessory prayer, call the Prayer Line 770-671-8239, which can be reached 24 hours a day. If the Prayer Room is not staffed when a call is received, an answering machine records the confidential concern. Intercessors present when a call is received will pray with the caller. If it is requested, intercessors will return recorded calls.

Church members and their families are invited to call when there is an emergency situation for which prayer support is desired. The clergy are also made aware of such prayer requests when they are received.

Each Sunday morning, 15 minutes prior to each service, volunteers pray for the ministers participating in the service and the spiritual nurturing of the congregation.

Prayer request cards are found in the pew racks and can be completed and placed in the offering plate or given to an usher. All requests are referred to the Prayer Ministry. Intercessors will pray for the needs that are expressed. Requests may also be e-mailed to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Praise and Gratitude

PRAISEOver the next six weeks, the Prayer Ministry will focus on Praising God and expressing Gratitude for our many blessings.

We want you to count your blessings and also tell us some of the ways God has blessed you and your family. We will share some of your remarks and photos in a special presentation during a Sunday worship service. Look for tables located near entrances where special cards will be provided to write down ways you have been blessed. This is for children and adults! After writing your card and placing it in the basket, be sure to take a "Gratitude Rock" to remind you to praise and thank God every day for your blessings. A wonderful blessing we all share is: We are free Americans and we live in the most wonderful country in the world. You take it from there!

Prayer Room

Prayer-Room-CrossDid you know there is a room at DUMC specifically set aside for those who would like to pray?

The prayer room is a beautiful private space located across from the church offices, located to the left of the stained glass wall hanging. It is open for prayer any time the church is open. We hope that you will use this space for your time of prayer or quiet time with God. Prayer Blankets

prayer-blanketThe DUMC Prayer Ministry has a special service for providing prayer blankets to those within our congregation who are experiencing illness or other special situations.

We have beautiful fleece blankets as well as blankets that are handmade by church members that we deliver to members in the hospital or at home. The blankets have been prayed over by our prayer ministry as well as by clergy members. The fleece blankets are available for purchase if you have a friend you would like to send one. Prayer Request

  • Pray for the 400,000 children in foster care in the U.S.
  • Pray for the foster families and the churches involved in foster care ministry.
  • Pray for the social workers, judges and everyone involved in child welfare across the country.
  • Pray that God moves on the hearts of individuals and ministries who are called to the ministry of foster care.

Lord, we pray for peace for every child in foster care across the nation.

"All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace." Isaiah 54:13

Many children who enter foster care are filled with fears and worries—from their family problems to the issues of crime and unrest in the world. We must pray that they will grow in their trust in God and that the peace of God will cover them regardless of the surrounding circumstances.
