HomeStretch and Transitional Housing

transitionalhousingParticipants in the program may live in a transitional house for up to two years. During this time, they must abide by a contract which outlines specific guidelines that are overseen by their Case Manager. To enter the program, adult members of the family must be employed or actively seeking employment. They are required to contribute a percent of their income to housing expenses.
The contract outlines expectations regarding upkeep of the property, being a good neighbor, and appropriate conduct while living in the transitional home.
The Case Manager and a financial mentor develop a Self Sufficiency Plan that includes setting goals for employment, money management, and parenting skills.
Dunwoody UMC is currently providing financial and community support to one family that lives in a transitional home in Roswell.
The Transitional Housing Steering Committee meets one a month with our program mentors and discuss ways that our church can support our families.
Members of our congregation have donated furniture, clothing, meals, toiletries, and other useful items. We have also helped families move in and out of our homes and helped with educational and career opportunities as needed. If you would like to lend a hand, join us for a meeting, or contact Samantha Faklaris at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . There are appropriate projects for small groups, Sunday school classes, and individuals.
