Breakthru House


Wilsonliving-room-2Breakthru House transforms the lives of women struggling with addiction by empowering them to experience physical, emotional, and spiritual healing through recovery. Founded in 1969, Breakthru House is the first long-term residential treatment program in Georgia designed specifically for low-income women. While most "long-term" treatment programs last only 28- 90 days, Breakthru House provides both housing and comprehensive treatment services for up to 18 months. Service opportunities:

  • Supper Club: Organize a group of friends (4-6 volunteers) to share a meal with Breakthru residents. Ideal for first-time volunteer groups. Second Wednesday of month, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Enrichment Group Leader: Lead a life-enrichment activity for our residents. Possible groups include art, gardening, book-club, etc. These activities empower clients to live well-rounded lives and are vital to clients' sustained recovery. Thurs/Fridays 4:00-5:00 p.m.; Sat 1:00-3:00 p.m.
  • Educational Group Leader: Have a special talent, skill-set, or interest to share with others? Contact Breakthru to discuss leading an educational class! Thurs/Fridays 4:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Spirituality Leader: Open to clergy or lay-leaders of any faith. Lead clients in a spiritually enriching discussion or study. Mondays 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Campus Improvements: Organize a group of volunteers to help keep our houses and campus beautiful. Service projects include painting, yard-work, landscaping, and house redecoration.
