Club 45

What is it and why do we have it? Club 45 is a new ministry for preteens in 4th and 5th grades. It is designed to meet the changing needs of this group of youth who often hunger for something different from younger children, but they are not developmentally ready for Youth Ministries. Club 45 helps to bridge the gap that preteens feel as they transition from their elementary to teenage years, by using a format similar to youth programs, but with subject matter and activities that address their age appropriate needs and issues. In order to best meet those needs, Club 45 is designed as a holistic ministry, including Sunday school, Preteen Youth Fellowship and Special Events, providing youth a place to experience their faith and their church community in a fuller, deeper and more meaningful way.

CLUB 45 SUNDAY SCHOOL

CLUB 45 SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday school for preteens in grades 4 and 5 is at 9:00am and 10:30am each Sunday morning, except for designated holidays. Lessons are taught in 4 week units, with classes rotating to a new unit every 4 weeks. Preteens will have the opportunity to explore and apply their faith in a variety of different contexts.

First Semester: August 15th through December 5th, 2010

Topics for our first semester include:

Getting Well A Unit on Physical, Spiritual, and Emotional Healing

A United Methodist curriculum on what healing is, why Jesus healed, what healing teaches us about God's love, and why we need healing.

Simply Living On Simplicity, Generosity, and Stewardship

What does it mean to "live simply?"

Preteens will answer this question and discover the many different ways that Christians are called to practice contentment, stewardship, and generosity.

A United Methodist Is... A Unit on What it Means to Be a United Methodist

Did you know that the term "Methodist" was originally meant as an insult? Two hundred years later, we've taken it and run with it, and we can't think of a nicer thing to say about someone than that they're a Methodist! (We are a little biased, though). This class is a great introduction for preteens about how we live out our Christian faith through the lens of United Methodism.

Toy Story A Movie Unit on Jealousy and Envy

A unit on jealousy and envy as seen in the Disney/Pixar movie "Toy Story." Preteens will learn what the Bible says about envy and jealousy, about the consequences of envy and jealousy (using the story of Cain and Abel along with the film), how God gives us different talents and abilities, and what it means to be a member of the body of Christ.

Our Mission is to grow our youngest Dunwoody UMC members into Disciples of Christ through study, programming, and activities. We want to foster Christian friendships between the children and provide an environment for spiritual growth in Christ. Dunwoody UMC children's ministry partners with parents in establishing a conviction in the children to ask Christ into their lives, and enter into a journey of knowing Jesus.
