A church the size of Dunwoody United Methodist is vibrant, exciting, and full of opportunities, but the reality is that getting involved can appear complex and challenging to someone new.
THAT'S WHERE YOU CAN HELP: The purpose of Shepherding is to establish a one-to-one contact for new members right from the start. Each new member or new family will be assigned a Shepherd. This person will serve as their host, assisting them in becoming fully engaged at Dunwoody UMC. The Shepherd will individualize this assistance to meet the new member's needs and interests.
YOUR JOB AS A SHEPHERD: After being matched by the Member Involvement team, you will call your new member within 7-10 days of their joining the church. You will then arrange to meet face-to-face, perhaps in the Fellowship Hall between services, at a Wednesday Night Supper, or at the New Member Reception. After that, you will continue to touch base with your new member throughout their first year at Dunwoody to assist with any questions and concerns and to support their involvement in the church.
THE RESULT: New friends, involved church members, and a growing sense of community at Dunwoody UMC.
PLEASE JOIN THIS IMPORTANT NEW MINISTRY TODAY! THE TIME COMMITMENT WILL BE SMALL, BUT THE REWARDS WILL BE GREAT.
