Women of the Word Goal

WOWTo experience spiritual renewal as Biblical women, while enjoying the Living Water of Jesus Christ.

"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." Psalm 63:1

We Have A Rich History at Dunwoody UMC

In 1991, Dunwoody United Methodist Sr. Pastor, Wiley Stephens, approached long time members Becky Wright and Nancy Meeker with a request that they begin a prayer ministry within the church. Becky and Nancy agreed and realized there was need for such a class in which to teach women how to pray. Nancy wrote a study on prayer and taught for several years.

The ladies saw that there was a great hunger among the women of Dunwoody UMC for focused Bible Studies. A task force comprised of 15 women formed to evaluate the needs followed, and Women of the Word was born. As Women of the Word, we are committed to teaching the word of God to the ladies of Dunwoody United Methodist Church.

Since the conception of WOW 10 years ago, God has richly blessed the women of Dunwoody UMC and our community at large with growth, not only in Bible Studies but also through special events and fellowship.

Women of the Word are a community of women who desire to learn how to apply the Bible with relevancy in today's world and to mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will continue to grow this ministry and bless those who come to be a part of it.

He Speaks To Me

hespeakstomeHe Speaks To Me: Preparing To Hear From God

by Priscilla Shirer

This is a study that focuses on how God spoke to Samuel in the Old Testament and how He speaks to Christians today. Why do we settle for the Word of The Lord revealed to someone else and passed on to us as if God does not speak to us individually? This shouldn't satisfy us. He wants us to hear His voice, understand and obey. The Lord desires to speak to us personally. He wants to meet us where we are despite who we are and reveal His will for our lives. There are about 30 minutes of homework per day, and the study guide costs $12. The six-week study dates are Thursdays, June 6, 13, and 20 off for two weeks and then Thursdays, July 11, 18 and 25 with leaders Becky Wright, Julie Eaton, Cathey Wall.
