New Horizons In Christ

New-HorizensNew Horizons In Christ is a UMW circle full of caring Christian women. Our children are in high school and beyond, and many of us are empty nesters. We typically meet once a month, on weekday mornings, and enjoy a combination of service projects and social events. Over the last few years, our volunteer efforts have been focused on food preparation for Meals on Wheels. Yes – we do get to wear hair nets! We have also consistently worked at the Foster Care Support Foundation. This amazing charity particularly touches the heart of our circle! Most recently, we spent a Sunday afternoon volunteering at the Foster Care Prom-A-Palooza. We were truly blessed to work one-on-one with 150 high school girls who are currently in the foster care system, helping them select the perfect dress for their upcoming Prom. The donated dresses, jewelry, makeup and accessories were amazing, but the personal transformation we saw in each teenage girl was truly heartwarming. Highlights of this year's social engagements include Bunko, a play, brunch, and a trip to the Botanical Gardens. Moms on the Grow

MOMS-on-the-growMoms on the Grow is a circle of the United Methodist Women that meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Parlor of Dunwoody United Methodist Church. This group was formed over ten years ago and is comprised of moms of young children who gather to engage in religious, social, and philanthropic endeavors. Speakers are invited to speak on a wide range of topics including mothering tips, marriage advice, and how to find the right pair of jeans! This group also assists with church-sponsored missions including assisting with Vacation Bible School, candles for Christmas Eve, projects for the Community Assistance Center, and the Consignment Sale. In fact, the Dunwoody UMC Consignment Sale, an enormously successful mission of the church, was started by some founding members of Moms on the Grow several years ago! This group is a great way for new members to assimilate into Dunwoody UMC and for lifelong members to maintain and develop new friendships! United Methodist Women

UMWWho We Are:

An organized local unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

What We Do:

There are currently ten UMW Circles at Dunwoody UMC. We represent age groups from 20-somethings through 90+ years old. Each group meets monthly to engage in fellowship, mission work, Bible study, and fun. We bring in speakers on various subjects, feed the homeless, donate time and materials to community charities, work together on global mission projects, participate in Bible studies, provide support to fellow members who are sick, grieving, or having babies, and much, much more.

How You Can Become Involved:

Check out the descriptions of the Circles listed below. If you see one you think matches your interests, call or email the chairperson and let her know you would like to visit a meeting.
